Does Jesus Christ reign as king? When will His reign begin? When will His reign end? Is He reigning now or will His reign occur in a thousand-year future golden age and on a physical throne in Jerusalem? The answers to these questions will bear directly upon our view of the Kingdom of God, our daily lives as Christians, and even our understanding of the often troubling headlines of the day. It is widely held in most evangelical churches today that Jesus Christ is not yet King and that the devil is reigning on the earth. That is, that the true reign of Christ is in some future time and that we ought not to expect any great victory until only at that future time. Today's text (among many others) reveals that the Lord Jesus Christ is indeed Lord of lords and King of kings now! It reveals that this reign of Jesus Christ is real, ongoing, and moving towards a designated conclusion. It also reveals that there are yet enemies.
