Christians emphasise salvation. Mormons emphasise salvation. If these two definitions of salvation differ, a clash becomes inevitable. To the Christian, God is able to save an individual, regardless of how sinful he is, regardless of his age or gender or any other detail. For the Mormon, however, this is a problem. It appears they are unable to conceive of a God who can save apart from human performance.
