Ever heard a newborn cry because his twin brother is hungry? Doesn't the answer reveal how selfish we are as we come into this world? With age we learn to fool other people about what we are like, but we remain the same. We develop euphemisms for our sins to make them appear less odious. Vast areas of our lives can be driven by selfishness--myself at the centre. We can even do right things in the wrong way! God's people however, can become producers rather than consumers. We can become people who become givers where we used to be takers. In God's economy, work is not always connected to money. Work is a good thing--we are designed to work. Work is goood for human beings. Christians need to cultivate a good attitude toward work regardless of whether we get paid for it or not. Loading a producer mentality is to take deliberate action to become a producer, regardless of whether my selfish desires are met or not.
