This continues into the perfect will of God. We are told in 1 Cor. 3, that we are building on the foundation of Jesus Christ. As such God warns us to have it inspected and approved by him. Cain brought his best to God and God rejected it, not because it wasn't good enough, but it wasn't what he wanted. We are admonished to make sure that what we are doing is first what he wants, then to do our best at it. If we wait until the Judgment Seat of Christ and it fails the test of fire, we won't get a second chance. (See, Cor. 3:12-15)
