God promised His people that, one day, we will see the King in His beauty, and a land that is afar off.
The New Testament contains many references to the land that is afar off, the place that the Lord plans for His people whom He loves.
Jesus described His Father's house having many mansions, where He goes to prepare a place for us. Think of it: the glory of heaven isn't enough for the saints, but our Savior prepares a special accommodation for us there!
Moreover, He assures us that He will come again to take us to where He is now, for the purpose that we might be with Him for eternity.
Peter describes that land afar off as the new heaven and the new earth, wherein dwells righteousness. Because we believe God's promises, we look for that glorious place. Its chief characteristic is righteousness. It is the longing of every believer to finally come to the place where there is no sin in us, and no evil can touch us. That is why Peter exhorts us to cast away all unrighteousness, and seek to be holy and at peace with God, waiting for that glorious day.
John the Apostle described seeing that far away land in the Revelation. He exults in the fact that there God will dwell with His people forever, and there will be no death or sorrow or pain, because He has made everything new. God specifically commanded John to write these things down, because they were certain and precious to us!
It is a place of vast physical splendor, but the Lamb dominates above all that as the Light of the place. Nothing evil will ever be there, and Christ's saints will be there with Him.
The most important thing about this far away land is that we will see Jesus with our own eyes.
