Now the question is who can ever march up to the presence of such a God and meet with Him? 3 Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? Not only who may go up into His presence but who having arrived before Him is fit to remain before Him?
Verses 4 and 5 give us the answer... 4 first - He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. The person whose hands are filled with pure and clean actions; that person who has no stain of sin upon their hands. This person lives according to God’s laws and is innocent of doing any wrong. And yet pure practice is not enough. It must come from a pure motive. The heart must be clean for the hands to be truly clean and pure.
NOW that you know what it takes are you fit to ascend and remain before God? The answer should be "no." Someone more fit must ascend on my behalf. And some has.
