The timing of Pentecost was significant. Jesus' work was starting to bear fruit. Many nations were gathered. The Spirit was sent by the glorified Christ. Pentecost was one-off but his work is permanent. The dispersion at Babel was undone as the message took hold in the Spirit's power and a new community was formed. Jesus is an active presence and his Spirit is the life of the church. When he works there will be conviction, conversion, and community.
