In Psalm 100:1-2 the manner of worship is addressed. The manner is characterized by a heart deep joy and willing, cheerful disposition which is expressed in 'joyful singing.' Verse 3a, 'know that the Lord is God,'points to the activities of our worship. These include the involvement of the mind (there are truths to know), will, affections and body. Verses 3-5 set forth several reasons which compel our worship (God is the solitary, living God, our creator, redeemer and a God of goodness and covenant faithfulness. Verse four concisely reveals our response. May we know increasing conformity to the worship described in this notable psalm!
