Mary Magdalene came and found the empty tomb on the first day of the week. Through church history we see the church now primarily gathering on Sunday, also known as The Lord's Day, to commemorate this. But this does not constitute a "Christian Sabbath." The fulfillment of the Sabbath is not a shift to Sunday from Saturday. Rather, the New Testament teaches that Christ Jesus is our Sabbath and we find our Sabbath rest in Him and His finished work. God works things his way, rather than working things the way man might prefer. Another example of this is seen in Him choosing Mary Magdalene, a forgiven woman with a very sinful past, as the first witness of the resurrection.
