Grant continues to speak about prayer this Sunday morning. We have looked at the birth of prayer, that is, God awakening us to the truth of his grace and awakening us to cry out for it. Prayer continues as it began. God establishes us by his favour—in life and in service and in hope, but this 'being established' can never be our confidence. If God 'hides his face', we are undone. But then, as those who ask for grace, we know we may seek his favour, and so, exalt in him alone. This is the constant movement of prayer, knowing, ever more clearly, that we live by God's favour.
