opic: Romans is probably the most read, studied, quoted, used book that's written in the NT. Paul wrote it around 57 A.D. and he just completed 3 missionary journeys. He was on his way to Spain, but he wanted to go through Rome. He saw a lot of poor outcast people, and he took up a collection from the gentiles for the Jews in Jerusalem. Rome was the center capital of the world at that time, so Paul wanted to go there and meet the people and share the word with the. This is the book he wrote to the Romans in anticipation of being with them shortly, but actually it was 3 years later that he arrived in Rome, as a prisoner of the Roman Guard. This is the simplest, plainest, and clearest book Paul ever wrote about Jesus Christ and salvation and what happens to a man without Christ. Man does have a savior and the end result is fantastic if they accept the Savior in their hearts.
Romans 1:1: “servant” in the Greek means “bond slave” to Christ. Paul is telling the Romans his position: a bond slave to Jesus Christ. There were more slaves in Rome than there were Roman citizens at that time. “Apostle” means “one who has sinned”. “Separated unto the gospel of God” means Paul gave up all his worldly wealth and status to follow Jesus Christ. Vs2: the Old Testament spoke of one coming in the future Vs3: concerning the Son, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh. All through the Old Testament is the complete lineage of Jesus Christ. There is a scroll with the family tree, or genealogy, of Jesus Christ discovered recently. This is the human lineage of Jesus Christ as God has promised to do. Vs4: Godly power is shown in Jesus Christ, miracles, ......
