Continuing our series through Mark (10:13-31), this week we hear Jesus teach how it is we are to come to him and receive the kingdom of God– like a child, and not like the rich man. What's the difference? One comes with empty hands… trusting and ready to freely receive. The other comes grasping hold of much, making it difficult to receive anything more. Not only is it difficult, it is impossible for him to enter the kingdom this way. But with God, all things are possible. How is it possible? The enabling grace and promise of God reveal to us the great riches of his kingdom such that those who love him and believe in him are more than ready to let go of what we cling to in this world in order to receive the free gift of eternal life. Grace not only 'makes up' for where we are lacking – Grace removes every obstacle between us and God, AND fills us with the very righteousness of Christ that is required to enter his kingdom.
