As I was looking at the lesson today, I was thinking of how easy it was for the Jews to miss it. This lesson was given to them over a couple of days, maybe a week's time frame. They were thinking of politics and the Romans. They wanted freedom and a Jewish King. If He could have provided food for them at times of need, and had God's Power to conquer and heal, it would have been even better. Seems like a pretty big concern to me. It might even be something that I could have fallen into. We look at politics and think of all the things happening around us and might get distracted by that as well. It looks pretty important doesn't it. It is our life and the lives of our kids we are talking about and fighting for. Yet it is important to notice what was missing, God. God is not a tag on, a special blessing to be invoked during times of trouble, or a good luck charm. Life, no matter how good, or how bad, will end and we will stand before the Judge. At that day, and for the rest of time, it won't matter if we lived as captives and slaves or as the richest of the rich. It will only matter if we were known by God. This is what Jesus is trying to teach. Join us as we look to His Word and learn about the Words of Life!
