This four part seminar is dedicated to a Scriptural understanding of the issues surrounding teenagers, the transitions to adulthood as will as creative applications for disciplining and training teenagers. This second lecture recognizes that although our children will always be our sons and daughters, they will not always be children, they will not always be a child. With the transition from childhood to adulthood comes a change in our methods of discipline. Is there a time when the rod (spanking) ceases to be a Scriptural tool of grace and becomes instead an implement of punitive humiliation? When do our children cease to be “child” and become “sons” and “daughters”? When does this transition occur? What are the biblical alternatives to the rod? How do we continue to train our children while at the same time prepare them for independence?
