The Gospel According To John February 5, 2012 Sermon Lesson 67 John 13:18-30
Jesus Orchestrates His Own Betrayal Jesus Orchestrates His Own Betrayal so that we might believe. Jesus knew those whom He had chosen (18-20) He knew Judas and his mission (18a,b) He knew all those whom He had chosen (18a, 19-20) Jesus informed the chosen about the betrayer (21-26) He predicted the betrayer would be one of them (21) He identified the betrayer to John (22-26a) Jesus propelled the betrayer into action (26b-30) He gave the morsel to Judas (26b-27) He secretly commanded Judas to move quickly (27b-29) Judas moved into action (30) Applications 1. God knows us through and through—both our wickedness & His work within us! 2. God gives us knowledge of the “Judases” today—false teachers (money). 3. God moves these “Judases” to accomplish His end—we can trust Him for that! He does these things so that we might believe that He is the Messiah, the Son of God!
