Reading from three passages in Exodus, we see an emphasis on giving with a willing heart. For our newly elected deacons at GCC, this is key—being freed from a sense of “impressing” God (or man) with mere visible activity. Rather, willingly give as one who has been redeemed freely. In this way, our Gospel message gives hope to the lost, but also supplies great instruction for the people of God. We pray our deacons will be used for the practical needs of the church, but as those giving freely, joyfully, and with conviction that God has given much more through the sacrifice of his Son for us!
