'TAKE THESE THINGS AWAY! Do not make My father's house a house of merchandise!'
What is wrong with churches buying and operating malls, managing sports leagues, and offering entertainment etc. for 'ministry' with a view toward 'reaching the lost?'
This sermon examines the teaching of the Scripture on the particular calling and limited charter of the church (as opposed to the houses of merchandise and entertainment-plexes that they often become), as taught in the Westminster Confession 25.3, 'WCF 25.3 Unto this catholic visible Church Christ hath given the ministry, oracles, and ordinances of God, for the gathering and perfecting of the saints, in this life to the end of the world: and doth, by His own presence and Spirit, according to His promise, make them effectual thereunto. 1 Cor. 12:28; Eph. 4:11,12,13; Matt. 28:19,20; Isa. 59:21'

Great Sermaon! I am truly impressed with the sermons I've heard from David Vance. He and Beeke are the best preachers I've heard on this site. This sermon is a great reminder of we are supposed to be in church for, and if God doesn't give permission for an activity in the church, it shouldn't happen. There are many activities that are not condemned by God, but they aren't appropriate within the house of God.
