Simply put, when we acknowledge ourselves as sinners in the sight of a just and holy God, and when we repent of our sins trusting in Jesus Christ as the one who bore the penalty for sin in our place, then by God’s sovereign grace we become His children by faith.
So how can you tell if anyone has done that? Jesus tells us in John chapter 15, he said, “By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.”
