Then she felt called to bear the stigma of widowhood and poverty in Jewish society for the rest of her life. She came from the tribe of Aser (Asher), one of the ten northern tribes that went into early apostasy and were judged by God with the Assyrian captivity. But this godly widow was truly favored of God in being among the few who witnessed Christ's first advent. She is an example to us of what our attitude and behavior should be as we wait for Christ's second coming
