Every earthly joy in this world is subject to disappointment and dissipation because of the law of dissipating returns. That's true for wealth, success, and even sex. In relationship to Jesus Christ we have opportunity to experience divine joy that satisfies fully. Joy in Jesus Christ is not subject to the law of dissipating returns because God is eternal. Therefore rather than such pleasures dissipating with each exposure and experience it can grow as we discover more and more. Thus our greatest needs are fulfilled not in focusing more on ourselves but in focusing more upon Christ. This talk was delivered in Nagoya, Japan at the Heart and Soul event sponsored by Christ Bible Seminary in front of an audience of about 160 people. Delivered in both English and Japanese.
