Because of our study of 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, it became necessary to set forth the biblical doctrine of the second coming of Jesus Christ. This is a complex matter, for the most common understanding of evangelicals regarding the end times is of recent origin, and I would assert, not true to Scripture. And so, we need to set forth not only the biblical position, but show why the most popular pretibulational, premillennial return of Jesus Christ prior to a 1,000 year Jewish millennium, is not taught in the Scriptures.
