The heart is the problem. We are talking about heart change here. The exchanged life. We cling to God's unconditional love but then have a very conditional love for God. So, that said, the right question to ask is, why do good things happen to bad people? The Lord did not have to restore Job. He did not owe him anything. He could view us as nothing more than his anthill….. An experiment….. But He doesn't . . .
Instead, He did not leave us in our misery. He continually delivered his people Israel, and then gave all people the opportunity for ultimate deliverance by the sacrifice of His Son on the cross. But why? See, now we are asking the right question.
Wow, the right question is why would God do that? How many of you would be happy to give your life for those who have spurned and rejected you.
Why would God do that?
It's kind of like the question, “how could a loving God send anyone to hell?”
The right question is “why would a righteous and holy god prepare a heaven and allow any of us to go there?” “Why would He send His Son to die in our place? We often get the wrong answers because we ask the wrong questions.
Our perception of God is the basis that we use to interpret circumstances. If you believe God owes you something, you can believe He has let you down. If we understand that every good gift, everything good that has ever happened to us is from Him, then we acquire an attitude of gratitude. Without Him, it would be all misery...
