The family is so very important in God's plan for the church. The church is called a family (Ephesians 3:15).
The father is primarily responsible for raising the children, both boys and girls, to become men and women of God.
Though this is not an exhaustive list, here is some practical instruction for things a man can do to be a godly father in his family (in no particular order of importance):
1. Read Bible & pray daily: they won't if you don't.
2. Have a family devotion in the morning daily.
3. Encourage you children when they've done well.
4. Hug your children & tell them you love them.
5. Love your wives affectionately & appropriately in front your children.
6. Make one evening a week for 'family night.'
7. Be the best friend in your sons' lives.
8. Be the best man in your daughters' lives.
9. Use the rod of correction (disciplinary punishment) correctly, consistently, and timely.
10. Help your children learn gently, patiently, and compassionately.
11. Help them to memorize the Covenanter Bible Primer (provided on pdf).
