In luke 5 we just read that Jesus declared His purpose for coming to earth. He said that He came to call the sinners to repentance. Jesus came to save sinners. What did He come to save sinners from? Answer, He came to save sinners from Wrath and Judgment and Hell. You could say that Jesus came to rescue His own people from the Hell they deserve.
Now if Hell is the eternal place of torment and Jesus came to rescue His people from that torment and that punishment. If Jesus came to pay every single bit of the debt that Christians owe to God because of the blackness of their sin against Him. If Jesus really did succeed in making a full atonement for our wickedness. If there is really no more condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus Romans 8:1. If Christ has really saved, and rescued His people from Hell that what are we saved to?
Since Hell is really the eternal home of the hopeless, then Heaven has to be everything that is opposite of that. Today we are going to look at Heaven, The Home of the Hopeful. We will just be introducing the concepts of Heaven and the eternal state and in the weeks to come I hope you are left with a longing for your home in heaven, and the presence of God. Let's take a little time looking at that eternal Home called Heaven.
