The Lord speaks to his servant in a time of distress: "Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know." The comforts and encouragements remain ours.
Here is a prayer commanded, a command we should not need but often do, to cry for help to the gracious and faithful Lord of all, prompted by his Word, his Spirit, and his providences.
Here is a promise made: that God will answer the earnest and submissive prayers of his people, guaranteed by his gracious nature, his clear words, and his past dealings.
Here is a prospect offered: that God will make known by way both of preview to sustain us and performance to delight us things which as yet we have not seen or experienced.
