GENESIS 5 Summary: We are given a repeated account of Adam's creation. (1-2) Then we have the genealogy, age and death of the patriarchs (the heads of the families) from Adam to Noah. (3-21) Then we are told of the godly life of Enoch, who walked with God, and that God took him to heaven without dying. (22-24) We read of the age of the oldest man, Methuselah being 969 years, and then the birth of Noah and his sons (25-32).
Devotional: (1) What does it mean that Adam was created in the image of God, but his children where in his likeness? (2) Why do people die? Do you see that even though some people may live a very long life they still died? Are you prepared to die and go into eternity? (3) What does it mean to walk with God? How did Enoch walked with God? Do you walk with God? How? (4) Do you put your comfort in family and things, see v.29? Is Christ your true comfort in life and death?
