As we enter 2015 this "prayer of Moses the man of God", as the Psalm title states, sets out some of the most important facets of truth we must dwell on as time goes by. Looking at the final verse of the psalm we notice two things:
1. God has given us a work to do. It's futile to expect gospel success from God without us doing the work he requires of us.
2. Only God can establish the work we do. It is futile to expect gospel success from our work without God establishing it for us. The "establishing" of their work by God as a people was hugely important to Moses, seeing this involved making it secure and lasting in its benefits to the succeeding generations. We too must always assess what it is we are passing to the next generation. Is our legacy going to be an advantage or disadvantage to them as we envisage them succeeding us in gospel work?
