Today men are inclined to deny Jesus' deity & assert that He was a mere man. In the NT times the challenge came in the form of a denial of His humanity. Our challenge in studying Jesus' emotions will be to deny His humanity so as to excuse ourselves from the obligation to image Christ emotionally. "Well, Jesus was God. How can I be expected to have His emotions?" Jesus' emotions were a part of His incarnate humanity. As we study His emotions, we will need to be sensitive to the ministry of the Holy Spirit & understand that as the Spirit effected Jesus' emotions, so too He works to effect obedient emotions in us who are joined by the Spirit to Jesus.
