Time has now passed, since the disciples received their commission. They had doubtless experienced much on the road and in the ministry. They would be tired but excited. You can imagine 12 voices all trying to get the Lord's attention, and to get His approval. But the Lord's primary reaction that we see in these verses is one of love and compassion. He sees that they need some rest from the ministry. Yes, they need time off, but not from Him, but rather time off WITH HIM.:
