God's plans for us in this new year are unknown to us, but whatever they are, God will have His way, for He controls all things, and nobody and nothing can thwart His purposes!
What is the manner of the interaction of our plans and actions with God's purposes? We look at it all backwards too often. We decide what God's will must be, then we set about to accomplish it, and then when we fail, we blame ourselves or others for defeating His purposes.
We ask ourselves, if only we had been more clever, or more faithful, or more industrious, or more skilled, or if those wicked folks had not moved against us, God's will would have been accomplished.
We ought, rather, to start our analysis with this truth: God's will and purpose will be carried out, regardless of our cleverness or stupidity, our skills or our mistakes, our competence or our incompetence!
God acts through the actions of people and nature and events to without fail accomplish His purposes.
Thus, we ought to always be faithful, diligent, do righteously, and everything to God's glory, knowing that God's will always triumphs.
Furthermore, towards believers, God's will is always good! All things work together for good to us, nothing can separate us from God's love, and we are predestinated to the adoption of God's children with inheritance in Jesus, because that is the good pleasure of God's Will!
So we need not concern ourselves that our failure will hamstring God's divine purposes, nor will our cleverness accidentally interfere with God's will.
God will permit neither His people's competence nor their incompetence to derail one particle of His plan! |
