David, the writer of this Psalm, was often in need of help from Yahweh. Like, David, we, too, are drawn to evil (v.4), but we must resist evil and submit to God in every situation. This Psalm teaches us that by God's grace we must recognize traps and snares that evil men have constructed to capture and destroy the righteous. We need God's power to detect wickedness and turn away from it and from those who are evil.
