How is it possible to turn back? Once one has tasted the goodness of knowing God . . . of being known by God? How could one discard, or set this aside? How could one neglect God, and seek another way to achieve that which is being sought out? How is it that the Galatians turn back? Paul answers his own question by now telling the Galatians that they have been misled. They have been persuaded that Paul is the enemy, and that the Judaizers are to be desired as friends; as those with whom fellowship should be greatly desired. As Paul is fearing for the souls of the Galatians, he calls them to return by setting out a good example for them (indeed, reminding them of the work of the Spirit within themselves as they were, at one time, servants of Christ as they cared for Paul). He proclaims the truth, and he continues to suffer for them, bearing them up that Christ may be formed in them. That these dear ones might persevere to the end.
