Christ's Kingdom is promised to be perfect and eternal, with all sin and sorrow and death banished away.
After the promise by God to Christ of His absolute rule, but before Christ takes it up, there is the interposition of His reign of Righteousness in the hearts of His people. This reign was established at His incarnation by His perfect sacrifice for sin.
His death has conquered all who trust in Him. He makes us righteous and changes our desires toward Him, so we are fitted to gladly submit to His coming absolute reign.
He is not just our King, but our Priest King after the order of Melchizedek - by which priesthood He reconciles us forever to a Holy God. He accomplishes for us all that an earthly king would hope to accomplish, but eternally and perfectly.
The perfections of His priesthood are laid out in Hebrews Chapters 2 through 10. His priesthood is eternal, so He can save to the uttermost. His priesthood is toward a better covenant based upon better promises than that of Aaron. His service is performed in the heavenly sanctuary, not in the types and shadows.
But most of all, His sacrifice is far better than any of the bulls and goats of the Old Testament. He offered Himself once as a perfect sacrifice by which He purged forever our iniquities. The hard work of His priesthood has been finished forever, so now He is seated at the right hand of Power in glory.
And now He is waiting to receive the fullness of the promised Reign.
We must repudiate any attempt by anybody to intrude upon His priesthood, or supplement His perfect sin offering.
Hallelujah! He has forever put out of work all other priests who would offer sacrifice for sin!
