1. We began our introduction to the book of Ephesians-but from Acts 19 and 20 to lay some background. 2. But in Acts we learned about the matters of the gospel and God's sovereignty in the things that he brought about to the experience of the building of the Ephesian church so that Christ may be preached. 3. We talked about repentance…as being to God in Christ. Repentance is a turning away from one seeking salvation in oneself to Christ Jesus. For the Jew from the Law to Christ and for the Gentile from paganism to Christ. 4. So, faith in Christ is the essence of gospel repentance. 5. But God performed many miracles by the hands of Paul in Ephesus-the end of which was to magnify the gospel. 6. And whilst at it-God caused mayhem in the city because the gospel caused a recession to the business that was based on making trinkets in the worship of a false goddess-Diana of the Ephesians. 7. Paul later in Acts 20 called on the elders of the Ephesian church when he was in Miletus that he may warn them of remaining in the truth that he taught them. He warned that savage wolves would rise even among them to preach another gospel-to turn people away from faith in Christ. 8. And later in 1Tim 1 we learned that it was the Law keepers again who had descended to try and bind the redeemed under Moses. That and more….
