As we have considered these chapters on Abram, here are four points that summarize God's relationship with Abram and with us who are His children through faith in Christ.
1) Graciously Establishes a Relationship with Us. â€“ v1-2 [God does it all through Christ]
2) Gives Us Precious Promises. â€“ God called Abram to a great act of faith. Along with this call, God made some great promises to him. 3) Calls us to Believe these Promises (faith) Despite the mess of Chapter 16, God reaffirms His covenant with Abram. God is faithful to His promises!
4) Expects Us to Live Set Apart to God in Obedience â€“ v.1b, v9-14 God Gives Grace to Strengthen Our Faith in His Promises
â€¢ Reveals His Name and Character â€¢ Changes the name of Abram and Sarai to remind them of His promises. â€¢ He gives us His Word/Church/Spirit to remind us of His promises â€¢ He gives us Baptism and Lord's Supper
