While we may speak of a person as being 'good', Jesus says that there is only One who is absolutely good-- and that is God Himself. Our God is morally good in that He is holy and righteous! Our God is responsibly good in that He is truth and faithful. But the was we experience God's goodness is that He cares for you and I. David, in Psalm 145 makes the point that God graciously and lovingly cares for ALL of His creatures. And Jesus, in Matthew 6, applies God's goodness to you and I as the antidote to worry! Our good God who feeds the birds and clothes the lilies of the field will take care of us! At the core of worry is 'little faith' in the goodness of God. So, we need to trust God's goodness! We can stop worrying and start trusting by considering how God cares for His creatures. We also need to taste the goodness of God in our time of distress and need, calling on Him in prayer, exchanging our anxieties with His peace. And then thank God for His goodness expressed to us! For the God who has taken care of us yesterday will care for us today and tomorrow! Our God is so good!
