No one is ever an unbeliever because of the lack of evidence. These "brethren" of the Lord had lived with Him in the most familiar way for many years, and they did not believe on Him. That was not because there was a lack of evidence. An unbeliever is the same as an infidel, although we perceive the latter to be a stronger form of unbelief. Unbelief is a REFUSAL to believe, not the inability to believe. It is not that they cannot believe, it is that they WILL NOT believe. As soon as a person has a sincere desire to believe he will see the evidence clearly in everything around him. The Bible refers to this refusal to believe as an EVIL heart of unbelief. It is most offensive to God and the most sure way that a person will end up in hell for eternity.
