Just as a single lit candle can be seen from every corner of an otherwise darkened auditorium, so Jesus, the one whom John describes as having life and light in himself, has shone his light to all corners of this dark world. His is no flickering flame in danger of being blown out by any puff of wind, though. Jesus' light is eternal, unquenchable, unwavering and blinding in its glory! Bombarded as we can sometimes feel by the sights, sounds, trials, temptations and uncertainties of this dark world, John's declaration that the darkness, despite its best efforts, could not, and has not, overcome Jesus' light is a great encouragement to us! |
