Now when we think of worldliness often our minds go to individual sins committed by people or sometimes things that are not even sin but the church promotes as such. Often religion itself is the most worldly thing of all. It’s accurate to say a specific sin is worldly, but there is another issue in play here.
The fact is that often the goals and motives of those who make up the Church are no different than those of the world.
The word “separate” there has caused some confusion. Some people took it as a call to go live in a monastery in the wilderness and separate completely from society. The problem is that does not quite jive with “go into all the world and make disciples.” The word means to be different. The Greek meaning is “to set off by boundary, to sever”
