Living under an old sheet of plastic, suffering from respiratory infections, sores, sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS, is life for millions on the continent of Africa. Africa is marked by poverty, crime and misery.
As in all other places on earth, in Africa, you find Christians too. How do Christian people face the misery of Africa and give hope when the needs are totally overwhelming? This has been a hot topic of debate, yet, for individual Christians who face this dilema on a daily basis in their ministry, clear lines must be drawn.
This message considers Christian compassion in Africa. It answers the question of what a Christian's purpose in all of this disease-ridden poverty is. It calls upon the hearer to clarify the issue in his mind so he can minister with compassion and confidence.
This is a very delicate subject. Differences of viewpoints wrestle, sometimes unspoken, with each other when vastly different cultures mingle. It is easy to cause offense in this environment. With these factors in view I have attempted to speak carefully, yet boldly for the name of Christ.
