As we continue to study Acts 24 where Paul is in Caesarea before Felix, we see that in his self-defense speech, he mentions the future resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.
This doctrine was a point of contention between Sadducees and Pharisees, both of which were represented in the Sanhedrin which was the Jewish leadership which opposed Paul. The Jerusalem leadership did not show up at the trial in Caesarea but sent a lawyer.
Paul's speech includes a mention of a literal resurrection which is a common theme in Christian speeches in Acts. We also took some time to study and discuss 1 Timothy 2:1-2 where Paul urges Christians to pray for civil authorities to the end that we might live decent, quiet lives in dignity and godliness.
We cited Titus 3:1-3 which is on the same topic. Those who think Christians are to rule over civil authorities and created a version of the Kingdom now in Christ's name have to face these passages which have a different claim about how Christians are to live.
Regarding civil authorities we are to pray for them whatever their religious status. We have a serious discussion about this issue and how we can be easily be deceived by the religious culture of America which tends to be postmillennial.
