We so often rush into prayer driven by the "tyranny of the urgent." You could say for many of us our prayer time is tantamount to "management by anxiety." We pull out our list of "oh God help me" issues, saying something like, "I can't take anymore!" and never stop to thank Him for all that he actually is doing in our lives at this current season. What a tragedy, because in the process we fail to let the Holy Spirit direct our gaze to things we didn't even think about that have occurred because God is at work. Thus, we miss seeing what God is really doing. Thinking in our panicked "oh God help me state, He isn't doing anything, when he is in fact do everything according to His the counsel of His own will right now. If you learn how to stop and give God glory first in your prayer time, it will radically change your whole Christian life. Oh let us stop and plumb the depths of what has become for to many of us an almost meaningless cliche' with no effect at all on our relationship with the greatest power in all the universe... the love of God.
