These all died believing. They didn't receive what was promised as we would view it though. What kind of deal is that anyway? Faith does at times work that way, which is hard for us. We will pray for something to happen and not see the results in this life. These people saw from a distance the answer to their prayer. God gave them a glimpse of things to come, He will give us a glimpse too when we put faith to work. These people here in this chapter could see the results coming about. But when faith isn't used all that is seen is doom and gloom coming. It's true we can't do anything on our own but through Christ we can do all things because faith is being employed. And when we start seeing we can start embracing the promises He gives just as they did. In this life on earth if we are saved then we don't belong here anyway. We are just visiting and we can firmly embrace that glorious promise of that heavenly country that we belong too. And by doing so we can get our minds off of the things of this life that want to weigh our faith down. The question is do you believe the promises in God's word? If so can you see it? When we start asking God to help us we can start seeing results; even seeing them afar off.
