As we make our return to Mark's Gospel account, we open up chapter 9 and are confronted with verse 1. A verse which at first sight can come across as somewhat strange and mysterious. Careless interpretations of this verse can be very unsatisfactory or have even lead to some bizarre and mythological conclusions.
