Have you noticed the date? It is the twelfth day of the twelfth month (in the modern calendar). Purim is in February of our calendar – but it was the 13th day of the 12th month in the Jewish calendar. So it seems fitting that we conclude our study of the Book of Esther on the 12th day of the 12th month!
It is also fitting that we do this in Advent – as we celebrate the proclamation of "peace on earth, good will toward men."
Because this is what Purim is all about. The salvation of the Jews brings peace (shalom) and welfare (tov) – to the Jew first and also to the Greek (or at least the Persian!)
