Title: John 3 vs 16 and the Gospel 1. John 3:14-16 (NKJV) 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 2. Many falsely conclude that Jesus was saying that salvation is universal and potential, in the sense that God wants to save all men without exception and thus awaits the decisions of sinners to seal the deal. But that can't be true. 3. Jesus did not end up talking in verse 16 of John 3. He qualified His soteriology in many other texts. Also, a proper understanding of John 3 will not allow for the free-will, universalistic interpretation of it. 4. But you have to listen to the end to hear the arguments.. They are FREE!
