Psalm 117 is the smallest of all the Psalms, in fact the smallest chapter in all Scripture. Yet its two small, simple verses carry much meaning and powerful purpose. It is fitting that Psalm 117 is the center chapter of the whole bible, since it puts forth the central priority for all peoples before God (worship!), and the central purpose and commission of God’s people, the Church (go and tell!).
This sermon was given as a charge to RBCKC on her 10th anniversary, giving the commission and content of what she is to stand, strive, and suffer together for.
The overall outline of Psalm 117 is the Command to Praise, Cause for Praise, and Chorus of Praise. And the five points of application are the Universality, Uniqueness, Urgency, Unmerited Love, and Unshakeable Truth of the Gospel.
