We continue to study Isaiah’s Book of Consolation. Toward the end of Isaiah 44 and into chapter 45, Isaiah gives a prophecy naming Cyrus the Persian king, who would not come on the scene for another 140 years. God raised up Cyrus, who is a type of Christ, as the deliverer of His people from the Babylonian Exile. And so even now our Lord Jesus is delivering His people from “Babylon” (cf., the Revelation), enabling our release and present journey to our heavenly homeland.
