The Jews understood that the Prophets gave God's word to us - they were the mediating messengers of God's Word. But they also understood that this Word, in a sense came down through the ranks of communication from God through Angelic messengers. In the end it is God's Word but mysteriously Angels played a part in its communication as well. Look at it this way. The Word of God- His Truth to us resonates to us by the lips of men, what is affirmed in the speech of Holy Angels what originates from the mouth of God. Let me also suggest to you that false teachings come under channels of similar, yet darker inspiration. They are spoken from the lips of men, what is affirmed in the speech of demons of what originates from the mouth of the Arch destroyer and deceiver Satan.
There was an over attentiveness to the Angels and their power that had developed in Judaism at this time. This same over attentiveness has also been expressed in Church history in the past and because they are so mysterious it has fostered fanciful ideas un-tethered from God's Word. What we can say is if Angel's primary job was to aid in delivering to us God's Word we should focus on that Word and not on Them. But then this doesn't mean we should be unmindful or dismissive of the reality and the work of Angels.
