We continue to study Isaiah’s Book of Consolation. In Isaiah 43:8-28 we read further of God’s commitment to save His people from their exile in Babylon. But this passage also prefigures the greater deliverance from “Babylon”, this fallen world system, that has always opposed and oppressed the people of God. Jesus Christ will destroy “Babylon” at His Second Coming, securing the release and deliverance of all of His people unto His full Kingdom. Today we complete this section, which includes Isaiah 44:1-8. Please give particular attention to the introduction, in which I attempt to show the continuity of the Old Testament with the new, and the New Testament Church as the Israel of God.
